New supernatural inspired novel based in Donegal A new fiction novel by Ramelton based author, John Norry Quinn, explores a supernatural side to a local family drama in his book ‘Tragedy and Triumph in Ballyswilly’. John, who is originally from Scotland, it looking to connect with audiences through his new book that weaves an intricate story of the lives of brothers Linus and Ryan and the fate that befalls them. Speaking of his interest in writing, he stated: “In common with many of their generation, my grandparents left Donegal in the late 1930s with their young children, hoping for a more prosperous life, and they eventually achieved this after many setbacks. I was inspired to write by my maternal grandmother, and I was the first of the family to go to university, attending Strathclyde and then Glasgow. My grandmother’s account of the Irish Famine of the 1840s fascinated me, mainly because an old man in his late nineties gave her his account.”
